TikTok, also known as Douyin in China, is one of the world's most popular video-sharing social media apps. It is used to create short music, lip-sync, dance, comedy and talent videos of 3 to 15 seconds, and short looping videos of 3 to 60 seconds. With its personalized feeds of quirky and creative short videos, the app is characterized by its addictive quality and high levels of engagement.
Besides adding effects like filters, background music, and stickers to their videos, users can also collaborate on content even if they're in different locations and create split-screen duet videos.
ByteDance first launched Douyin for the Chinese market in September 2016. Later, TikTok was launched in 2017 for Android and iOS in most markets outside of mainland China; however, it only became available worldwide. The app is available in more than 150 different markets and in 75 languages.
