Thailand-based television production company and talent agency GMMTV has released the trailer for one of its latest series, F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers. The company released the series’ teaser in September to reveal its four main actors and received mixed responses on social media.
Boys over Flowers is based on the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango by Yoko Kamio that was published from 1992 to 2003. It had been adapted into Taiwan’s Meteor Garden (2001), Japan’s Hana Yori Dango (2005), South Korea’s Boys Over Flowers (2009) and mainland China’s Meteor Garden 2018. All series essentially stayed faithful to the manga, centering on a relationship between a strong-willed girl and her school’s four richest boys or F4.
Based on the trailer for F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers, the new series seems to pick the similar route with several adjustments. The series is reportedly helmed by Patha Thongpan from Thai independent creative and production company Parbdee and is set to be released in 2021.
F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers was among series announced on Thursday during GMMTV 2021: The New Decade Begins, an event where GMMTV revealed its forthcoming projects by releasing trailers and presenting their actors on stage.
