The OPPO A96 5G emerged on the internet in the form of renders. Only a few hours from that, the smartphone is now official in China. The handset comes with a flat frame design, 6.43-inch OLED display, notification LED rings around the two rear cameras, a Qualcomm chipset 695 and a 4,500mAh battery.
The OPPO A96 5G features a flat frame like the OPPO Reno7 series. However, the rear camera layout is similar to that of the recent realme smartphones. Additionally, there are LED rings around these cameras. The OPPO Reno7 Pro also has a similar LED light for notifications but it runs along the rectangular camera island.
The back panel of the OPPO A96 5G has numerous crystal-like structures to offer a matte and elegant finish like the OPPO Reno series. Further, under the hood, the handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It also has support for 5GB virtual RAM. The smartphone runs on Android 12-based ColorOS 12 out of the box.
On the front, the OPPO A96 5G comes with a 6.43-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), 60Hz refresh rate, up to 180Hz touch sampling rate, 1000000:1 contrast ratio, DCI-P3 color gamut support, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. dimensions-wise, the smartphone measures around 7.59mm in thickness and weighs about 171g.
In terms of optics, there’s also a punch-hole nesting a 16MP selfie camera at the top left corner. Whereas, on the back, the smartphone houses a 48MP (wide) + 2MP (depth) dual-camera setup. As the name suggests, the OPPO A96 5G offers 5G connectivity backed by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.
As for pricing and availability, the OPPO A96 5G in a single 8GB + 256GB memory configuration is priced at ¥1,999 ($315) in China. The device arrives in three colors, namely Apricot Powder Warm Sun (peach), Colored Glaze (multi-color gradient), and Night Dream Night Star (Black). It is up for pre-order and will go on sale from January 9.
