Apple launched the new iPad Air (5th Gen) at its "Peek Performance" online event on March 8. It starts at Rs. 54,990 for the 64GB Wi-Fi-only model. The tablet will be up for pre-orders from March 11 and will go on sale on March 18. The new iPad Air is available in five colors and two storage options. Both Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi+Cellular variants are available.

The new iPad Air does not look much different from its predecessor, which was released back in 2020. However, what sets them apart is what's packed inside. The latest version features Apple's beastly M1 chip, which we last saw in the iPad Pro. This gargantuan leap in performance, coupled with improved RAM and no increase in price, makes the new tablet a sweet bargain.

The Apple iPad Air (2022) bears a 10.9-inch (2360x1640 pixels) Liquid Retina display with 500-nits of peak brightness, a 264ppi pixel density, and the P3 wide-color gamut. The new tablet features a conventional rectangular screen with proportionate bezels, rounded edges, and a Touch ID sensor.

Under the hood, The Apple iPad Air (2022) is powered by an Apple M1 chipset, paired with an octa-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage. At the heart, it runs on iPadOS 15 out of the box. The tablet supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and a Type-C port.

As far as the cameras are concerned, the Apple iPad Air (2022) is equipped with a 12MP (f/1.8) rear camera. Up front, it has a 12MP (f/2.4) ultra-wide TrueDepth snapper that enables Center Stage. The tablet packs a 28.6Wh battery that can deliver up to 10 hours (nine hours on 5G) of surfing the web.

For pricing and availability, the Apple iPad Air (2022) starts at Rs. 54,990 for the 64GB Wi-Fi-only model and goes up to Rs. 82,900 for the 256GB Wi-Fi+Cellular model. The device is offered in Space Gray, Starlight, Pink, Purple, and Blue color options. It will be up for grabs from March 18.
