After the success of the film Black Panther (2018), the director Ryan Coogler returns with a sequel to the first film entitled Black Panther: Wakanda forever. Launching from The Direct , the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will have a duration of 2 hours 41 minutes, 27 minutes longer than the first version of Black Panther.

With such a long duration, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is predicted to be the second Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film with the longest running time after Avengers: Endgame which has a duration of 3 hours and 1 minute. Avengers: Endgame even ranks second in the global box office with the achievement of the coffers of up to 2.79 billion US dollars.

In early 2022, Marvel's rival, DC, released the film The Batman, which lasted almost 3 hours, to be exact, 2 hours 56 minutes. The Batman was able to reap the success of up to 770.8 million US dollars amid the prolonged impact of the pandemic. The character T'Challa will no longer be featured in the new film, following the death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020 after four years of battling cancer.

Marvel's decision to no longer feature the character of T'Challa was also made as a form of appreciation to Boseman who had worked so hard in the Black Panther film. According to Collider, this film is intended as a heartfelt love letter to Boseman thanks to his legendary role which means a lot to many people.

Marvel only gets one chance to appreciate that, which is through this emotional film. The storyline of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will focus on the grief of the people of Wakanda after the death of their king, T'Challa. Trouble occurs when world powers emerge to seize the land of Wakanda. The people of Wakanda must fight to defend their country from enemy threats.

The sequel will again feature Shuri (Letitia Wright), Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o), M'Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), Ramonda (Angela Bassett) and M'Kathu (Danny Sapani). Also featuring Namor, the villain in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, played by Tenoch Huerta. Dominique Thorne will also take on the role of Riri Williams, also known as Ironheart. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is slated to hit theaters on November 11.
