Reporting from Soompi reports on Saturday September 3, 2022, Kim Hye Soo has been confirmed to be starring in a new Korean drama from tvN entitled The Queen's Umbrella. The Queen's Umbrella is a historical drama that will tell about the conflicts that occurred within the royal palace of Joseon. In the drama, Kim Hye Soo will play the queen Im Hwa Ryung.

As a queen who has five children, Im Hwa Ryung must educate them to become perfect princes because one of them will later become king. What makes the drama “The Queen's Umbrella” different from most other royal dramas of the Joseon Dynasty is that this drama will show a touching story of a mother's struggle in raising her child.

Even though Im Hwa Ryung is a queen, she actually lives a difficult life in the palace. Every day Im Hwa Ryung always feels anxious that she will not be able to protect her children from the wars that occur in the kingdom. Raising five princes in the midst of war makes Im Hwa Ryung's personality change.

Initially, Im Hwa Ryung was known as a beautiful and gentle queen, but since the war broke out she has become more violent. He didn't even hesitate to hurt people in order to protect his children. Kim Hye Soo commented that the queen character Im Hwa Ryung that she plays is a strong woman who is willing to do anything to protect the people she loves, especially her five children.

“Im Hwa Ryung lived during the royal age, but her thinking was not old-fashioned. He is very intelligent, brave, and has principles. You could say she was the strongest female figure in that era," said Kim Hye Soo. "The Queen's Umbrella" will be Kim Hye Soo's second drama in 2022 after "Juvenile Justice."

Kim Hye Soo first debuted as a professional actress in 1986 when she became the main character in the film "Kambo. " Since then, she has starred in many hit films and dramas, including "Partner" (1998), "Did We Really Love?" (1999), "Jang Hee Bin" (2002), "The Queen of Office" (2013), "Signal" (2016), "Hyena" (2020), to "Juvenile Justice" (2022).
