The most popular survival drama series on Netflix, Squid Game, continues to make history by taking home many trophies from the early Emmy Awards ceremony. Likewise for the actor Lee Yoo Mi. Lee Yoo Mi again proved her achievements in the world of acting. The 28-year-old Korean actress won the 74th Emmy Awards.
The prestigious award event for the television world was held at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles on September 3-4, 2022. Lee You Mi received a Creative Arts Emmy Award in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series category for her role in the 2021 episode of Gganbu, Squid Game. This made her the first Korean actress to win the category.
"I am very grateful. Thank you so much for giving me such a great award. I'm very grateful to the Emmy Awards, and I really love Netflix for always being by my side, and I also love the VARO Entertainment agency, I'm so happy! Thank you," said Lee Yoo Mi when giving a brief speech on stage as reported by Soompi on August 5, 2022.
She competed with other nominees such as Hope Davis, Harriet Walter, and Sanaa Lathan in the Succession series, Martha Kelly in the Euphoria series, and Marcia Gay Harden in The Morning Show. In the Squid Game series, Lee Yoo Mi plays an ex-convict named Ji Yeong (player number 402) who joins the game. The 1994-born actress even shot the Squid Game together with the drama All of Us Are Dead.
At the Creative Arts Emmy event, Squid Game won trophies in three other categories, namely Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More), Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, and Outstanding Stunt Performance. Not only that, Squid Game still has six more nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards. The final night of the 74th Emmy Awards will take place on September 12, 2022 at the same location.
