Mnet idol survival event ' Boys Planet ' introduced Yeo Jin Goo as the newest Star Master. Quoting from Soompi on Thursday February 23, 2023, the production team for survival idol 'Boys Planet' officially introduced Yeo Jin Goo as their third Star Master, following Hwang Minhyun and Sunmi. Hwang Minhyun was introduced as the first Star Master this past January.
He was a graduate of the Mnet idol survival event 'Produce 101 Season 2' in 2017, and made his debut in the Top 11 ranking as a member of the boy group Wanna One. The second Star Master is solo singer Sunmi, who has been active in the K-Pop industry since she became a member of the girl group Wonder Girls, and then debuted as a solo singer, releasing many hits.
'Boys Planet' Production Director Kim Shin Young commented on Yeo Jin Goo's selection as the third Star Master. He shared, "Yeo Jin Goo has such a brilliant career today because of his hard work and passion not to give up in pursuing his dream as an actor at a young age." He added, "We invited him as the third Star Master because we believe that he really understands the dreams of trainees, and can provide support and advice as a senior in the entertainment industry."
Meanwhile, the idol survival program 'Boys Planet' is the male version of the program for the 2021 audition program which successfully debuted the girl group Kep1er. Normally every idol survival event like this will only have one main MC who will guide the contestants from start to finish. However, the 'Boys Planet' program this time has a new system with the 'Star Master' profile.
Each Star Master is a senior artist who will have a role as a role model for the trainees. They will share lots of experience and advice for all the contestants. Yeo Jin Goo will start his activities as the third Star Master in the first elimination round of 'Boys Planet'. The first global voting for 'Boys Planet' will end on February 24, 2023, at 10 p.m. KST. While the latest episode of this program will air on February 23, 2023, at 20:00 KST.
