Get ready NCTzen, content from NCT is back! After previously SM Entertainment's management released the DOJAEJUNG sub-unit album (Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo), now it's Taeyong's turn to exist through the release of his solo album. On Monday May 15, 2023 at midnight, management released the first teaser for Taeyong's solo debut.
Taeyong will debut with a mini album titled SHALALA. SM Entertainment released a 57 second teaser video featuring Taeyong with many images and colors. Starting from the dorky, sexy, relaxed side, to the hip-hop style. The many concepts featured in this video suggest that Taeyong will try not only one genre of music in his album later.
Along with the video, management also announced the release date of the SHALALA album. The plan is for Taeyong's solo debut mini album to be released and can be heard by NCTzens and all K-Pop fans on June 5, 2023. Taeyong is also the first NCT member to debut solo through an official album.
Previously, the members of the large SM Entertainment group had their own solo projects, but they were only limited to single releases or just the SM STATION project. Taeyong will paved the way for NCT members to release their official solo debut album.
The announcement of Taeyong's solo debut and the release of SHALALA were also enlivened by NCT's official social media account, which now looks different. The profile picture of these accounts turned red and white, in accordance with the concept of Taeyong's solo debut album art through SHALALA. Taeyong also seemed impatient for the release of his first solo album project.
Through his personal account Instagram Story, Taeyong uploaded the short teaser by writing a sentence that could be a leak of the lyrics of the song he will be singing. "I can be anything and I can do everything," Taeyeong wrote in his upload. This is also in line with the various images he displays in the teaser video which suggests he as a musician can do anything and present various faces to fans.
