BLACKPINK celebrates 8th anniversary

BLACKPINK is a K-pop group that is now very popular in the music world. The group, which was formed under the auspices of YG Entertainment, started its musical career in August 2016. BLACKPINK contains four members consisting of Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, Lisa.

With their single album entitled Square One, they managed to receive a lot of public attention along with their first two hit songs, Whistle and Boombayah. So, in 2024, BLACKPINK will enter its debut age of 8 years on August 8th.

Many Korean media began to dig up information regarding this celebratory event. Reporting from the Sportskeeda page, a Ten Asia reporter reported that BLACKPINK management is currently discussing to determine what type of event they want to hold in August.

"Because the debut anniversary has a special meaning for BLACKPINK and BLINK (as fans are called), we plan to hold a big celebration. "However, we are still discussing this," said BLACKPINK management when asked about the artist's project plans for this year.

Many fans are doubtful and not enthusiastic about BLACKPINK's anniversary project

The news circulating that BLACKPINK would be celebrating their debut anniversary made BLINKs give mixed reactions. These fans give each other their conflicting opinions, you know, Mother. Among these responses, many BLINKs felt doubtful about the agency's plans in organizing this celebration.

They admitted that they were worried that the news about BLACKPINK's anniversary project this year would have the same fate as the celebration in 2021. “The last 4+1 anniversary project annoyed me. Now I don't have high expectations, in fact I don't expect anything. At least BLINKs only need one recent group photo.

That's enough," complained one BLINK, responding to the news of the anniversary . BLACKPINK's anniversary celebration in 2021 is a moment that is quite upsetting for many BLINKs. The reason is, the debut anniversary project entitled 4+1 is rumored to be releasing five special projects. However, it did not meet fans' expectations.

They commented that BLACKPINK's 5th year debut anniversary was just an attempt by the agency to rake in coffers from BLINK without providing a proper celebration. At that time, YG Entertainment only released merchandise and photobooks to commemorate the anniversary instead of holding BLACKPINK activities as a group.

In fact, fans admit that they are actually quite satisfied if the members hold a relaxed live chat together. Apart from that, some fans also suspect that the agency will hold a fan meeting or special appearance. However, they also don't have many expectations, considering that the four BLACKPINK members are now focusing on solo activities.

BLACKPINK members are now focusing on solo careers

Entering the group's senior age and increasing popularity, BLACKPINK members are busy with individual activities. Coupled with their fourth contract which is no longer under the same agency, BLACKPINK is now increasingly rarely seen appearing as a group. YG Entertainment also said the same thing in an interview with Ten Asia .

"BLACKPINK members plan to focus on individual activities in the second quarter of 2024. Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé will be busy with their musical activities, while Jisoo will focus on filming dramas and films." On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, Lisa uploaded a leak of her solo comeback poster. This woman of Thai blood will greet BLINK again with her latest single entitled ROCKSTAR on June 28, 2024.

Jisoo is currently busy in the process of producing the drama project Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint . This idol has succeeded in attracting the public's attention since his appearance in the drama Snowdrop. Meanwhile, Jennie recently collaborated with hip-hop singer ZICO in the release of the song SPOT.

Then, Rosé reportedly just signed her solo contract with The Black Label. So, that's the information regarding the news about BLACKPINK's debut anniversary celebration in 2024. Hopefully, even though BLACKPINK members are busy this year, they can still give anniversary gifts that satisfy BLINKs, okay?
