Actor Timothée Chalamet is reportedly set to star in A24's upcoming film Marty Supreme, which is also set to be produced by Josh Safdie as director. The news regarding Timothee Chalamet's presence was reported by A24 via the latest upload on social media on Tuesday July 16, 2024.
"Josh Safdie's MARTY SUPREME starring @RealChalamet. Coming soon," wrote A24's X account (or Twitter). As reported by Variety, the film Marty Supreme is adapted from the inspiring story of the famous table tennis athlete , Mart Reisman.
He was an American ping pong player who was active from the 1940s to the 1960s. Reisman managed to win five medals from classy events. The first medal was the World Table Tennis Championship in 1948, then three medals in 1949, and the fifth medal in 1952.
The athlete also not only competed in the men's singles category, but also the men's team and mixed doubles. He even managed to bring home all five medals from all categories. Reisman dedicated his life to table tennis, co-founding Table Tennis Nation and becoming its president.
The athlete reportedly died in 2012 due to complications from an illness. The Marty Supreme film will be directed by Josh Safdie, who is known for his frequent collaborations with his brother, Benjamin Safdie. The two were even writers and directors for the films Good Time (2017) and Uncut Gems (2019).
Meanwhile, the Marty Supreme film will be written by Josh Safdie, who also collaborates with Ronald Bronstein. This collaboration will be their third after being involved in the films Good Time and Uncut Gems. Timothee Chalamet will also reportedly serve as producer with Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas.
The Marty Supreme project also marks the actor's latest feature film project after starring in A Complete Unknown, in which Chalamet plays the lead role in a film about famous musician Bob Dylan. However, until now A24 has not provided further information, such as the plot, other actors, or the Marty Supreme film screening schedule.
