The board of directors of ADOR, NewJeans' agency, rejected Min Hee-jin's request to return as CEO of the agency. The decision was made at an ADOR board meeting held on Wednesday October 30, 2024.
As reported by the Korea Times, Min Hee-jin, who attended via video call, was the only member of ADOR's board of directors who supported his reappointment as CEO. The other ADOR board members, which are dominated by HYBE executives, rejected the former CEO's request, so the meeting decided that Min Hee-jin would no longer be CEO.
Min Hee-jin will remain as one of ADOR's directors for a three-year term as decided on October 17, 2024. The board of directors' decision came after the Seoul Central District Court rejected Min Hee-jin's application to be reappointed as ADOR CEO on Tuesday October 29, 2024. The court rejected the request because it was deemed to have failed to meet the required legal requirements.
Therefore, the position of ADOR CEO is still held by Kim Ju-young who replaced Min Hee-jin. Min Hee-jin filed the injunction in September 2024 to challenge the board of directors' decision to remove her from her position after HYBE accused Min Hee-jin of trying to take over ADOR and NewJeans.
On the other hand, HYBE denied Min Hee-jin's dismissal, saying that it was unrelated to the shareholder agreement. It also claimed that the agreement between the two parties had long been terminated, so the legal effect was no longer valid.
"The decision to terminate Min Hee-jin as CEO was made independently by ADOR's board of directors as part of a business management decision. It is unrelated to HYBE or the shareholders' agreement." Min Hee-jin has also been appointed as a member of ADOR's board of directors with her term extended for a new period of three years.
Min Hee-jin was re-elected based on the decision of the ADOR board of directors meeting held on October 17, 2024. ADOR has agreed to give the position to Min Hee-jin for the next term. The term will also begin on November 2, 2024, one day after the previous term ended on November 1, 2024.
