DJ Koo spoke out after his wife, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2, 2025. Barbie died of pneumonia she had while on vacation in Japan. Through his personal Instagram account, DJ Koo shared several uploads with a black background complete with long writing.
He expressed his feelings as well as things related to Barbie at the moment. “On February 2, 2025, my angel returned to the sky. "First, I want to deeply thank the many people who condolences to Heewon," wrote DJ Koo, writing Barbie Hsu's Korean name, namely Seo Hee Won.
"I don't have the strength to say anything and I don't want to say anything. But before the pain passes, many people criticize my family and my love," he said. DJ Koo is aware of some fake news especially related to insurance that says he will take Barbie Hsu's insurance.
In his statement, DJ Koo will not take any of the insurance that others mentioned. “Can you please stay quiet so Heewon can rest, I beg you. All the power that Heewon kept was to protect her family when she was alive, so I will give all the power to my mother-in-law,” DJ Koo explained.
"The time I spent with Heewon was something precious and a gift that cannot be replaced by anything in this world. I think this is my last job to protect the family that Heewon loves the most," he continued. “Finally, I want to bow down and thank everyone who loves Heewon.
"Heewon's true love, Junjun," concluded DJ Koo .Another post shows DJ Koo uploading a photo with the caption, “Forever love.” Various Korean public figures expressed their condolences through comments to DJ Koo who had just spoken for the first time.
“My condolences are so deep that no words can express it. I only pray for you and your family. Stay strong,” wrote Kahi, formerly of After School. "Hyung, my condolences," wrote Haha. “Oppa, we all know how you really feel, so cheer up. Sorry for not being able to protect you from those bad guys,” wrote DJ Soda.
