The production team of the variety show Good Day has finally taken action amidst the controversy surrounding actor Kim Soo Hyun. On Monday March 17, 2025, the production team apologized to fans who had watched Good Day featuring Kim Soo Hyun.
They realized that the controversy about Soo Hyun was so big that the production team had to prioritize the comfort of the audience. "First of all, we sincerely apologize for causing concern to those who have watched 'Good Day.'
The production team is fully aware of the severity of the controversy involving one of the cast members and is continuing with production while prioritizing the reactions of viewers," Good Day said in a statement. The production team then decided to cut Kim Soo Hyun's part in episode 5.
This made the episode 10 minutes shorter than usual. "Episode 5, which aired yesterday, was immediately edited to remove Kim Soo Hyun's footage from the "Good Day General Assembly" segment. After the clarification from Gold Medalist was shared, the production team took the next step regarding Kim Soo Hyun's appearance on Good Day.
"Regarding the recording session held on March 13, the production team had been waiting for an official statement from Kim Soo Hyun's agency amidst the postponement of the 'Good Day' soundtrack recording schedule.
However, the agency informed us that their statement would be released the following week (as of March 13, 2025), and securing the cast members' schedules after that date would be difficult," the Good Day team said.
"After much consideration, we had no choice but to proceed with the recording. The production team conducted the recording and sketching with careful consideration, ensuring minimal overlap with other cast members and keeping in mind the possibility of editing the footage," they continued.
