Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have officially announced the fourth film in the Spider-Man saga. The film titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day is also confirmed to be released in theaters worldwide starting July 31, 2026.
The news was conveyed directly by the director, Destin Daniel Cretton, when he gave a presentation at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas and via uploads on social media on Monday March 31, 2025. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day. July 31, 2026," Sony Pictures tweeted via social media on Monday March 31, 2025.
The fourth Spider-Man film will still feature Tom Holland as the main actor playing Peter Parker. However, the actor did not have time to attend CinemaCon with the rest of the team to share this news in person because he was filming The Odyssey project directed by Christopher Nolan.
However, Tom Holland sent a message via a video recording that was also played at the event. Tom Holland did not reveal much about the upcoming Brand New Day film, the actor only confirmed that the film will continue the story from the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home which was released in 2021.
"I'm sorry I can't join you guys. I'm on the other side of the world shooting a movie," Tom Holland said in the video. "I know we left you guys on a cliffhanger with No Way Home, so Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going to be a new beginning. And that's all I can say," he continued.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton also spoke out during the announcement, claiming to have spent a lot of time studying Spider-Man. The director of the film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) also explored various potentials that could be included in the film Brand New Day, such as costumes, Spider-Man's style, and the story that will be explored.
"I'm spending my time exploring the next stage of this fascinating character with the most incredible team of artists in the world," he said. "We're all, every day, exploring more deeply into the costumes, the swings, the steps to create an event, the emotional story, and the journey that we've never seen before," he continued, as reported by Variety.
Tom Holland is also the first name confirmed to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are also rumored to be returning to enliven the fourth Spider-Man film. On the other hand, Sadie Sink is also reported to have officially joined to play in Spider-Man 4.
After various previous media reports, the star of the famous series Stranger Things is rumored to be playing the character Jean Grey, an iconic mutant and member of the X-Men. Meanwhile, the detailed plot of Spider-Man 4 is still a secret.
However, the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day will tell the story of Peter Parker's journey after the ending events in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). The film's ending shows Peter Parker's decision to ask Dr. Strange to erase his identity from the world.
This then makes Peter Parker no longer able to recognize anyone, including MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon). Spider-Man: Brand New Day is also the first project for Destin Daniel Cretton as a director. Destin Daniel Cretton is the next name after Jon Watts who has directed the previous three Tom Holland Spider-Man films.
