After the success of the drama When Life Gives You Tangerines, singer and actress IU will return with a new project. The woman whose full name is Lee Ji Eun will return by starring in a romantic drama titled Wife of a 21st Century Prince (working title).
In the drama, IU will act alongside actor Byeon Woo Seok. Wife of a 21st Century Prince tells the love story of Sung Hee Joo, a chaebol heiress who has everything. She then meets Lee Wan, a prince who has nothing even though he is the king's son.
IU will play the character Sung Hee Joo. She is the second daughter born to the largest conglomerate family in Korea. Hee Joo is known for her beauty, brains and is very competitive. Everything Hee Joo wants is always available and easy to get.
However, her perfect life suddenly changes after she has to make a marriage contract with Prince Lee Wan played by Byeon Woo Seok. Lee Wan is a pitiful prince who has nothing but his royal status. Because of that, he lives in hiding from the public. But his life changes after meeting Hee Joo.
In addition to IU and Woo Seok, this drama also stars Noh Sang Hyun as Min Jung Woo, a prime minister from a prestigious political family and childhood friend of Prince Lee Wan. Min Jung Woo is a scholar who was born into a wealthy family, has extraordinary intelligence and is known to be handsome.
He will also be involved in Lee Wan and Hee Joo's marriage contract. Apart from that, actress Gong Seung Yeon will also star in this drama. She got the character of Yoon Yi Rang, who was born into a royal family who grew up to become a queen.
