Good Boy (2025) is an action-comedy drama from JTBC channel that follows the story of five former national athletes namely Yoon Dong Joo (Park Bo Gum), Ji Han Na (Kim So Hyun), Kim Jong Hyun (Lee Sang Yi), Go Man Sik (Heo Sung Tae), and Shin Jae Hong (Tae Won Suk) who are now police officers through a special recruitment program.
They trade medals for badges to fight against a world filled with corruption, lies, and injustice. Later, because of their athletic talents, the team was nicknamed the "Goodvengers". Apart from the characters of the five athletes, one of the characters who is no less important is played by Oh Jung Se who acts as the villain or main enemy of "Goodvengers".
In this drama, Oh Jung Se plays Min Joo Young, a customs officer who looks calm on the outside, but secretly controls the city of Inseong. Min Joo Young's presence is a big threat to the "Goodvengers". Oh Jung Se himself called Min Joo Young a “monster with a plain face” that feels real.
Not only is she a villain in the drama, but she also reflects dangerous figures that have really existed, still exist, and will continue to live among us in the real world. There is indeed not much information about her character in this drama. Her figure is depicted as mysterious and moving behind the scenes.
Min Joo Young is a calm but cruel type of criminal. The story of the past that is the background of her committing crimes is worth looking forward to when the drama airs later. He wanted to portray Min Joo Young's evil side with an in-depth approach.
"Once this character declared herself a villain, I kept asking, 'What kind of villain is she?' and 'What extreme actions might she take?' I wanted the audience to keep questioning this character," he explained. He also emphasized that big changes can be conveyed through small transformations.
From the outside, Min Joo Young looks neat, her clothes that look simple are expensive and full of meaning, reflecting the evil that is hidden in everyday life. One of Min Joo Young’s key lines is, “I don’t really remember.”
Oh Jung Se explained that this line was inspired by his childhood when he saw adults lying on television. “The monsters that hide behind power and wealth still exist today. We live side by side with them, and it is important to remember, punish and monitor them,” he said, highlighting the realistic feel of the character.
The character who is directly opposite to Min Joo Young is Yoon Dong Joo. If Yoon Dong Joo is a young man full of passion and justice, then Min Joo Young is a calm and planned crime. The tension between the two characters is guaranteed to increase the intensity of the drama.
"Although Min Joo Young looks cold and flat, her brutal side will emerge in certain situations," said Oh Jung Se. He hopes that his actions can provoke a strong reaction from Yoon Dong Joo's character.
Regarding working with Park Bo Gum, he said jokingly, “What is it? I just want to be caught by him quickly, passionately and without hesitation!” He also praised Park Bo Gum as an actor who can teach him a lot.
According to him, their interaction is more than just a fight between good and evil characters. The drama Good Boy (2025) itself is scheduled to premiere on May 31, 2025 at 22:40 KST on the JTBC channel every Saturday-Sunday. This drama will also air internationally on the Prime Video streaming service.
