BTS's Jungkook has reached a major milestone in his solo career. The 2025 Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA) confirmed that Song of the Year is now officially the Daesang (Grand Prize). This means Jungkook's 2024 win for his hit song " Seven " has been upgraded to a Daesang, making it his first solo grand prize.
Fans, known as ARMY, were overjoyed to hear the news. Even though Jungkook is currently serving his mandatory military service, his music continues to break records and gain recognition. The announcement has sparked celebrations online, with fans calling it a well-deserved honour for the global superstar.
The ASEA 2025 organizing committee announced that Song of the Year will now be classified as a Daesang, one of the highest awards in K-pop. The change applies retroactively to previous winners, including Jungkook's "Seven," which won Song of the Year in 2024.
"Seven has won SOTY in 2024 & Jungkook is now the first BTS member to win a DAESANG for Song Of The Year (no fan voting), let's celebrate our golden boy. DAESANG WINNER JUNGKOOK." “Now it makes more sense because Song of the Year is meant to be a Daesang, it's a main category after all.”
“SEVEN, THE QUEEN YOU ARE.” With this recognition, Jungkook becomes the first BTS member to win the Daesang as a solo artist for Song of the Year. This achievement adds to the long list of records set by "Seven," which has dominated global charts since its release.
Jungkook released “Seven” (feat. Latto) in July 2023 as his official solo debut. The song immediately became a worldwide success, breaking many records: Debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200. Fastest song in Spotify history to reach 100 million streams.
Surpassing 2.3 billion streams on Spotify, it becomes one of the most streamed songs of all time. Longest charting song by an Asian solo artist on Spotify's Global Top Songs (96 weeks). Highest debut by a Korean solo artist on the UK Singles Chart (No. 3).
