The family of the late South Korean model, Kim Jong Suk, has spoken out regarding the rampant negative speculation circulating in cyberspace following the model's passing. Kim Jong Suk's older sister has strongly asked the public to stop spreading baseless rumors and stated that she is ready to take legal action.
Through an emotional post on social media on Thursday June 6, 2025, Kim Jong Suk's older brother expressed the deep sadness they felt amidst the funeral preparations, which was further exacerbated by various wild speculations that emerged in online communities.
"We are in the midst of funeral preparations, overwhelmed and heartbroken. But I see so many baseless and false claims spreading in online communities ," wrote Kim Jong Suk's older brother, quoted from AllKpop, on Saturday June 7, 2025.
Initially, the family chose to remain silent in order to maintain the peace of the deceased Kim Jong Suk. However, seeing the situation getting out of control, the older brother finally decided to act.
He said that a number of netizens' posts contained slander and false information that damaged his sister's good name. He also said that some media outlets were also spreading inaccurate information. Therefore, the family plans to file an official report to the cyber investigation unit regarding the distribution of this content.
"He expressed plans to file a report with the cyber investigation unit against defamatory posts and false information, and added that some media reports also contain false information," Kim Jong Suk's brother wrote.
"I have requested the removal of these articles. We will soon release a summary of the police footage and statements from friends who were with him at the time," Kim Jong Suk's brother continued.
The family's firm stance shows their determination to protect the honor of the late Kim Jong Suk and stop the spread of false information in the public space. Previously, the sad news of Kim Jong Suk's death was first known after a close friend shared his final tribute via social media.
The post was followed by other condolences from acquaintances and fans who were still struggling to accept his passing. Kim Jong Suk is known as a model who started his career in 2014 at an online shopping mall.
