Redmi 9A finally announced in India as a new entry-level smartphone from Xiaomi‘s sub-brand. It carries a pricie tag of Rs. 6,799 and will go on sale for the first time in India on September 4. The device was already launched in Malaysia in July along with Redmi 9C. The handset comes with the latest octa-core chipset from MediaTek and it’s the first smartphone to be powered by MediaTek Helio G25 SoC. 

Redmi 9A features a 6.53-inch HD+ IPS LCD WaterDrop Otch display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core chipset, coupled with up to 3GB of RAM. You can expand your storage by a microSD card up to 512 GB. It comes in two RAM configurations but the storage is the same and available to buy in three different color options.

In terms of camera, the Redmi 9A comes with a single 13 MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture. For selfies, the smartphone has a 5 MP camera on the front with f/2.2 aperture inside a waterdrop notch. The device is packed with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging. Xiaomi claimed that it uses Enhanced Lifespan Battery (ELB) technology, and using this technology the Redmi 9A battery is said to last three years without losing capacity.

The Redmi 9A runs MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box. For connectivity options, the smartphone includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a Micro-USB port. For security the device has an AI face unlock and the phone is splash resistant because of P2i coating. In terms of dimensions, the device measures 164.9×77.07x9mm and weigh 194 grams.

As for pricing and availability, the Redmi 9A is launched in two RAM options, the 2GB + 32GB variant is priced at Rs. 6,799 and the 3GB + 32GB variant is priced at Rs. 7,499. The smartphone has three color options namely, Nature Green, Midnight Black, and Sea Blue. The device will go on sale for the first time in India on September 4 at 12 pm via Mi.com, Amazon, Mi Home.
