Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its Redmi K50 series of smartphones in China on February 16. The top-tier gaming phone will feature JBL-tuned speakers with Dolby Atmos support, premium Sony IMX sensors, 120W fast-charging technology, and an L-shaped charging cable to enable a smooth gaming experience.
The gaming smartphone segment has been witnessing fierce competition amongst rival smartphone-makers. Redmi is not one to shy away from competition, and its upcoming K50 Gaming Edition seems like an apt response. To up the ante, the company has even roped in the Mercedes-AMG F1 team. The company will hope to attract both gamers and F1 fans through a partnership with the Brackley-based team.
The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition may bear a 6.67-inch QHD+ OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 480Hz touch sampling rate. The smartphone will feature a punch-hole design, slim bezels, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. On the rear, it will sport a vertical camera unit.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will flaunt a triple rear camera arrangement, including a 64MP primary shooter, a 13MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. Up front, it will sport a 16MP selfie snapper. The handset will pack a 4,700mAh battery with 120W fast-charging support.
Under the hood, the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will draw juice from a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. On the front software, it will boot Android 12-based MIUI 13 OS out of the box. For connectivity options, the smartphone should offer support for 5G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a Type-C port.
The pricing and availability details of the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will be announced by the company at the time of its launch on February 16. However, going by a previous leak, the smartphone is expected to start at around CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs. 41,600). It will be offered in Blue and Silver color options, with the latter being a Mercedes-AMG F1 version.
