NCT will form a new unit after a few years. This news began with several South Korean media reporting that this unit will consist of Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo. On Thursday, March 9, 2023, SM Entertainment confirmed the news. Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo are preparing for their first unit's debut album. Please look forward to it," SM said in a statement today.
Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo made their first appearance as a trio at the MBC Music Festival and NCT 127's concert. At that time they performed the song Can We Go Back. The three of them went through the trainee period through an SM Entertainment program called SM Rookies. They perform singing and are active in promotional events made by the agency.
Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo joined NCT at different times. If Doyoung and Jaehyun made their debut through NCT U in 2016, Jungwoo only debuted with NCT 127 through the album Regular-Irregular (2018). Jungwoo is also the last member to join NCT 127 so there are no additional members until now.
NCT is a K-pop group with the concept of adding unlimited members. So far, they have debuted 23 people with four sub-units. The 23 people are Taeil, Taeyong, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun, Mark, Yuta, Winwin, Haechan, Renjun, Jeno, Jaemin, Chenle, Jisung, Johnny, Jungwoo, Lucas, Kun, Xiaojun, Hendery, Yangyang, Shotaro, and Sungchan.
Then these 23 members were divided into several sub-units, namely NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV. Recently, SM Entertainment was rumored to be ending NCT's member renewal process this year. In the future, they will debut a new K-pop group outside of the NCT name. The trio of NCT's new units will be released in the first half of 2023.
