Netflix has confirmed that it will produce a sequel to Squid Game after the series' worldwide success. After the names such as Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun have been confirmed, now the name of actor Im Siwan will appear who will join the second season.

South Korean local media STARNEWS reported that Im Siwan was recruited to be the main character in Squid Game season 2. Im Siwan's management, PLUM A&C opened their voices about this. "This is information that we cannot confirm. Please understand," they said when asked to comment on the news.

In line with the management's answer, Netflix Korea did not provide any rebuttal or justification. It seems that they are still prohibited from talking much about the details of Squid Game 2 until the time comes. "We ask for everyone's understanding, we cannot confirm regarding casting for season 2 of Squid Game," said Netflix Korea.

What is certain is that from Squid Game 2, director Hwang Dong Hyuk will return to lead the production. He has also confirmed Lee Jung Jae's return to this series. Reportedly, Lee Jung Jae's payment for Squid Game 2 is fantastic, up to IDR 10 billion per episode.

The plan for season 2 of Squid Game will be produced as many as 9 episodes. If nothing changes, the Netflix production series will start shooting in 2023. Not only Lee Jung Jae, director Hwang Dong Hyuk is also said to have received a high enough fee to work on the second season of Squid Game.

Netflix has also poured out massive funds for this project, which is said to have reached USD 70 million or IDR 1 trillion. In a leak via letter that was officially released by Netflix some time ago, director Hwang Dong Hyuk also revealed the appearance of a new character to look forward to in the second season of Squid Game.

"And now, Gi Hun is back. The Front Man is back. Season 2 is coming soon. The man in full suit and carrying ddakji may return. We will also introduce Young Hee's boyfriend, Cheol Su," said director Hwang Dong Hyuk. "Come join us once again in a new round," he concluded.
