The civil trial between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held this Friday May 17, 2024, at the Seoul Central District Court. Both parties intensively argued with each other, including Bang Si Hyuk as chairman of HYBE Labels. Reporting from Allkpop on Friday May 17, 2024, the chairman of HYBE Labels sent a petition letter to the Court on behalf of HYBE.
Part of the letter was read by HYBE's legal representative, explaining Bang Si Hyuk's position in the case that brought him against ADOR CEO, Min Hee Jin. In the petition letter, Bang Si Hyuk stated the freedom that creators must have when creating.
"Despite recent events, creators must have the freedom to create even more freely than now. Creative freedom doesn't just stop with the creator's dreams. The only way for K-Pop to survive is for creators to create more freer than ever before. This freedom is the force that drives K-Pop's growth to this day." said Bang Si Hyuk.
He continued, "some say that Min Hee Jin's actions exposed the weakness of the multi-label system. But even the most complicated system cannot prevent human crimes. However, the evil actions carried out by a single person cannot destroy a system built in the long term. a long period of time, and that's the durability of this system."
In his closing, Bang Si Hyuk revealed that creating a positive and creative system in K-Pop is a calling for him. He also apologized for all the chaos that occurred which had an impact on the K-Pop entertainment industry, and asked the Court to reject the petition submitted by Min Hee Jin.
On the other hand, Min Hee Jin's representatives remained adamant on the facts and statements. During the trial held today, Min Hee Jin revealed HYBE's unfair treatment of ADOR and NewJeans members. Apart from that, the lawyer from ADOR also mentioned the emotional condition of the five NewJeans members who were afraid of HYBE's planned hiatus.
