Scooter Braun officially announced his retirement as manager for big stars in the United States music industry. In a statement uploaded to his personal Instagram account on Monday June 17, 2024, Braun admitted that he wanted to focus as CEO of HYBE America.
This news comes after two years since he was suspected of no longer handling music management due to separation from many of his clients which shocked the public. "After more than 20 years, his chapter as a music manager is over," wrote Scooter Braun's statement.
"One of my biggest clients and friends said they wanted to spread their wings and go in a new direction. We've been through a lot together over the last decade, but instead of hurt, I saw it as a sign," he continued.
In 2021, the Ithaca Holdings company founded by Braun, including SB Projects, officially joined HYBE as the label that oversees BTS and a number of other Kpop idols. Initially, Braun joined the company's board of directors and became co-CEO for the label in America.
In January 2023, Scooter Braun officially moved to the position of sole CEO of HYBE America. "My brilliant partner for the past 3 years, Bang (Si-Hyuk), has a vision that I really believe in. But, more than that, he is a true friend who understands where I need to be in my life now."
Scooter Braun also admitted that he wanted to focus more on his small family, so he decided to give up his career as a manager. "And the first is as a father, the second is as CEO, and no longer a manager," he stressed. In his statement, he also reminisced about pursuing a career as manager of Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, whom he had managed since childhood.
"Seeing them both become the legends they are today will forever be one of the greatest honors for me," said Braun. Scooter Braun left the management company to Alison Kaye and Jenn McDaniel who are said to be important figures in the management business he owns.
Scooter Braun is known as the manager for a number of great musicians, including Asher Roth, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Carly Rae Jepsen, PSY, Lil Dicky, Tori Kelly, Demi Lovato, J Balvin, Quavo, Zac Brown, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Steve Angello, producer Andrew Watt, YG, Kid Laroi, Dan + Shay, and Usher.
