Netflix continues to present the latest romantic comedy films. This time, they will adapt the popular novel My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan into a film. Adapted from Deadline on Saturday June 22, 2024, this project has Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest as stars. Currently, further details about other players have not been revealed by Netflix.

This story tells the story of Anna (Carson), a woman who pursues her childhood dream of studying at Oxford University. With big ambitions and plans already in place, her life changes completely when she meets a local man (Mylchreest) who has a big impact on her life, both in her romantic relationships and career.

Carson is no stranger to Netflix viewers, especially after the huge success she achieved with the film Purple Hearts and her role as Evie in the series The Descendants . His latest project, My Oxford Year , will be his fourth collaboration with Netflix.

Considering Purple Hearts is one of the most-watched films on the platform, it's likely that Carson will continue to be Netflix's mainstay star for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, Corey Mylchreest became known after starring in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and also appearing in the popular series The Sandman.

My Oxford Year will be a film directed by Iain Morris who has won a BAFTA award for his work on the teen comedy series The Inbetweeners and also the Netflix comedy series Murderville. The film's script was written by Allison Burnett. Final revisions to the script were made by Savion Einstein, while Laura Quicksilver will lead the production team.

He previously contributed to the Turtles adaptations All The Way Down and The Other Black Girl. Romantic comedies are a popular choice on Netflix. Netflix has had great success with this genre, especially when the films star top actors and actresses who can evoke fond memories in the audience.

Several recent titles such as Irish Wish with Lindsay Lohan ( Mean Girls ) and Mother of the Bride with Brooke Shields ( The Blue Lagoon ) have managed to attract attention in the Netflix catalog. Mother of the Bride even managed to record more than 40 million broadcast hours in just four days — a strong proof that there are still many romantic film fans who are enthusiastically waiting to watch the next exciting titles.
