2NE1 surprised fans by rejoining YG Entertainment and confirmed their comeback in the near future. The news regarding 2NE1's return was conveyed by YG Entertainment founder, Yang Hyung-suk, via the latest video on YouTube on Monday July 22, 2024 in the early hours of the morning.
He conveyed the plans that the agency will carry out in 2025. In the announcement, the founder said CL, Sandara Park, Minzy, and Park Bom wanted to celebrate 15 years of debut by holding a world tour with YG Entertainment.
"So we met and happily discussed doing it this year," Yang Hyun-suk explained. "The concert will be held in early October in Seoul, we have already booked venues in Osaka and Tokyo in late November and December," he continued without providing details regarding 2NE1's performance schedule.
He also confirmed that 2NE1's concert would be a special concert, especially for the fan who is familiarly called Blackjack. "The concert will resonate with those who grew up with 2NE1's music and will share many of those memories," he said.
YG Entertainment also uploaded an old photo of 2NE1 as a form of welcoming the girl group back. "Welcome back, 2NE1," the agency tweeted. 2NE1's world tour plans come two months after the group reunited to celebrate their 15th debut anniversary.
At that time, fans had suspected that the idols would make a comeback because the four members shared their latest photoshoot. 2NE1 debuted in 2009 with the release of the single Fire. They then released a series of hit songs, such as I Am the Best, Missing You, Come Back Home, Lonely, Ugly, I Love You, and others.
2NE1 also became the first K-pop girl group to hold a world tour, starting it in 2012. However, the group broke up in 2016 when Bom went on hiatus due to a drug scandal that dragged her into 2014. Minzy then chose to leave 2NE1.
Not long after that, the agency announced 2NE1's disbandment. 2NE1 made a comeback by singing at Coachella 2022 in California, USA, on Saturday Apr 16, 2024. In their latest performance, they reunited by singing the song I Am the Best.
