BLACKPINK's Lisa recently made a comeback with her latest single titled ' ROCKSTAR ', shocking international fans with her unique style that is quite different from before. The music video for 'ROCKSTAR' which was filmed in Thailand has become a hot topic on social media, from the music that Lisa presents to her fashion look.
One of the things that caused quite a stir was a Chinese designer named Jewel Y posting a series of accusations against Lisa and her team, claiming that they plagiarized one of her designs from 2020. In the music video for 'ROCKSTAR', Lisa wears a star-shaped leather halter top that symbolizes the concept of 'ROCKSTAR' in one outfit .
Quoting from KBIZoom on June 30, 2024, the designer also shared details in another post, stating that from 2020 to 2023, his products were produced in London and had to be sent abroad for photo shoots. A Korean (or British) stylist allegedly borrowed the star's top from Jewel, stole the idea, and started appearing widely on social media.
Additionally, Jewel mentioned that the design is not yet copyrighted because the brand is not popular in the domestic Chinese market. During the second half of the Covid-19 pandemic, Jewel fully shifted to the makeup industry, and her fashion brand has been on hold since then. Therefore, many cases of plagiarism have not been addressed.
A number of netizens responded to the accusations, and said that the design used in Lisa's outfit was a design commonly used in fashion. In particular, the star-shaped crop top is not something exclusive. Lisa's complete outfit was revealed to be from very stylish brands such as Diesel, KNWLS, and Rombaut, except for the star-shaped top.
