Following the success of the global boy group audition program ' Boys Planet ' which successfully debuted the boy group ZEROBASEONE in 2023, Mnet is again planning to launch a similar follow-up program with the aim of airing in 2025.

Quoting from Allkpop on Saturday July 27, 2024, ' Planet B ' is a prequel to Mnet's new global boy group audition program, they are holding audition calls for all male contestants born before January 2012, regardless of nationality or place of residence. Contestants who are individual trainees or trainees at an agency, or even singers who have officially debuted also have the opportunity to take part in this audition.

Meanwhile, registration for the prequel audition project 'Planet B' will open on August 10, 2024, at 10:00 KST, via the official website mnet.planetb.net. The audition program 'Planet B' seems to be used as preparation for Mnet's next idol survival program project. 

Or possibly the second season of the program 'Boys Planet'. Along with the announcement of the opening of registration for the audition program 'Planet B', Mnet has also shared a mysterious spoiler video to attract the attention of not only prospective participants. But also fans of K-Pop group audition programs or survival shows. 

From the teaser video which is about 27 seconds long, Mnet shows a picture of a wide sky where one bright and shining starlight then appears in the middle. Accompanied by dramatic and thunderous music to welcome the logo of the new audition program 'Planet B' appears and introduces itself as the newest boy group audition program from Mnet. 

The contestant search slogan "What is the name of the brightly shining star?" also appears in the teaser video, and the audition opening date is also listed. On the other hand, Mnet's survival programs for both boy group and girl group projects have always succeeded in attracting the attention of global K-Pop music lovers.
