James Gunn's Superman (2025) film has officially completed filming. This news was announced by James via his personal Instagram account, exactly 11 months before the film's release in July 2025. The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
Interestingly, this film will be the opening of the new DC Universe brought together by James Gunn and Peter Safran. In his post, James Gunn shared a photo from the filming location in Norway. It shows himself with Peter Safran, David Corenswet, and a number of other cast and crew members.
" Filming is finally complete. I am so grateful to the cast and crew who have worked so hard, creatively, and dedicatedly to make this project possible. I wanted to make a film about good people in a world that is sometimes not so good. The kindness, sincerity, and love I encountered every day on set was so inspiring and gave me energy when I felt too tired ," said James Gunn, quoted on Wednesday July 31, 2024.
" Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is a huge honor. The end goal is Superman, but this journey has been about the hard work, the laughter, the emotions, the ideas, and the magic we shared together on set – and for that I am eternally grateful, " he added. The Superman film tells the story of Clark Kent's life journey growing up in Smallville, Kansas.
He is a figure who must reconcile his Kryptonian roots with his life as a human on Earth. Superman is depicted as a symbol of truth, justice, and hope for a better future. Even though in the modern world many people consider kindness to be something old-fashioned, Superman still uses human kindness as a guide in his life.
The Superman film also stars Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemore as Otis, MarÃa Gabriela de FarÃa as Angela Spica/The Engineer, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl.
Also starring are Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.
