American singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift expressed her shock after hearing about the mass stabbing and assault incident that occurred at a her-themed event at a daycare in Southport, England, on Monday July 29, 2024.
Through the latest upload on Instagram Story on Tuesday July 30, 2024, the singer of the song Sweet Nothing admitted that he was shocked and didn't know how to sympathize after hearing the news. "The horror of yesterday's attack in Southport continues to haunt me and I am in shock.
The loss of innocent lives and victims, and the horrific trauma experienced by everyone there, families, and witnesses," she wrote. "They're just little kids in a dance class. I really don't know how to express my sympathy to these families," she said. The mass assault and stabbing incident at a daycare center was known to be holding a Taylor Swift-themed party.
As reported by the New York Post , the perpetrator behind the incident was an unknown male teenager who is estimated to be 17 years old. He was seen attacking after getting out of a taxi wearing a hood. The attack happened so fast with stabbing adults and children who were partying.
The victims were recorded as two children killed and nine others injured. There are also two adults in critical condition after trying to protect children from the perpetrator. Merseyside Police Chief Serena Kennedy even said that many officers were shocked to see that many of the victims were children. "They were subjected to brutal attacks and suffered serious injuries," she said.
The perpetrator has been arrested and it was found that the incident was not related to terrorism, although the motive for the crime is still being investigated by officers. The location of the incident occurred at Hart Space, a daycare center that was holding dance, yoga, and Taylor Swift-themed friendship bracelet-making activities.
Several eyewitnesses said there were around 25 children aged 6 to 11 at the event. Meanwhile, there were 7-10 children outside the daycare who were directly targeted by the perpetrator. "They were in the street and running from the daycare," said an eyewitness. "They were stabbed here, here, here, and everywhere," he continued, pointing to their necks, backs, and chests.
