Stray Kids' latest album, ATE, has been selling brilliantly in the United States. The album sold so well that it even beat Taylor Swift 's The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) ! That's according to Billboard's records.
Stray Kids' ATE has now debuted on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart after becoming the album with the highest sales in its first week (calculated from sales in the United States only). That position was recently occupied by Taylor Swift with her album TTPD.
Just last week, Stray Kids managed to break into the top spot on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. They officially became the first group from any country in the world to have 5 albums at number one on the chart. As of August 4, 2024 US time, ATE is still firmly in the #1 position on the Top Album Sales chart.
Entering the second week, it seems that the JYP Entertainment artist's album is still in high demand. According to Luminate (formerly known as Nielsen Music), ATE's album has sold 52 thousand equivalent album units since its release on July 19 to August 1, 2024.
ATE's album achievement above follows sales of more than 2 million copies according to South Korea's Hanteo Chart. On Wednesday July 24, 2024 Hanteo Chart announced that the ATE album had sold a total of 2,025,803 copies in the first week of sales, in just five days.
This album adds to the list of successful releases from Stray Kids that have sold millions of copies. ATE is now Stray Kids' fourth album to sell 2 million copies in its first week of release, following MAXIDENT, 5-STAR, and ROCK-STAR.
The ATE album was released with a mainstay song titled Chk Chk Boom. This hip hop song with a Latin twist was also produced by 3RACHA aka Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han from Stray Kids. They also took part in the process of writing the song's lyrics. The Chk Chk Boom MV is no less special.
The video clip of the song features two Marvel Studios Deadpool & Wolverine movie stars, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Stray Kids is also the only K-Pop star to appear on the Deadpool & Wolverine soundtrack album. They sang a song titled Slash which was also written by 3RACHA with VERSACHOI.
