Actor Sebastian Stan has criticized a journalist who commented on the condition of his co-star Adam Pearson's face. During a press conference with a number of reporters, a journalist asked Sebastian what he thought about the transformations his character underwent.

One of those transformations involved Adam Pearson experiencing facial disfigurement. "What do you think happens after the transformation from a so-called monster, as they call it, to a perfect human being?" the journalist said.

Sebastian immediately corrected the journalist's choice of words, who should not have used the word 'monster' to describe someone. "I think one of the reasons why this film is important is because we often don't have the right vocabulary. I think it's a little bit more complicated than that," the 42-year-old explained.

"And of course there's the language barrier and all that, but I don't think 'monster' is the right word," he said. The incident occurred in February 2024. At that time, Sebastian and Adam were at the Berlin Film Festival, Germany, to promote their film titled 'A Different Man'. However, the interview video had just circulated on the internet and immediately became the spotlight.

Many netizens praised Sebastian's attitude in defending his co-worker in an elegant manner. However, there were also those who defended the journalist, because he is not a native English speaker. "So someone noticed the journalist [saying], 'This is the so-called monster, AS THEY CALL HIM?' The journalist used the words used in the movie.

He really doesn't need to be criticized. Sebastian Stan got it wrong," one netizen commented. In the film, Sebastian's character, Edward, becomes fixated on Adam's character, Oswald. Oswald's character is said to have played Edward in a stage production of his previous life.

Adam has neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in the nervous system. These tumors can grow in the spinal cord, brain, and meninges. In Adam's case, the tumor caused his face to be different, unlike most people. This condition is also told in the psychological thriller film he starred in.
