Squid Game 2 officially released its first teaser on Friday September 20, 2024 or two months before the second season airs on Netflix. The teaser shows the continuation of the story from the end of the first season experienced by the main character, Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jun-jae).

Seong Gi-hun appears to have canceled his plans to go to the US and restarted his daring pursuit. The teaser seems to confirm that the game is not over yet. Gi-hun then realizes that he has returned to the game after winning it some time ago. 

He even wears the number 456 jersey again among the other new players.The teaser also features another cash prize with a glimpse of the match footage that comes along with other atrocities. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk previously said that the new season will showcase Gi-hun's revenge by entering the game as a different character.

"Seong Gi-hun, who promised to take revenge at the end of season 1, returns and comes into the game again. Will he succeed in taking revenge?" said Hwang Dong-hyuk, as reported by Deadline. In early 2024, he and Netflix announced the broadcast schedule for Squid Game season 2 and will continue until the third season. 

Squid Game is one of Netflix's most popular series of all time with a record 1.65 billion views in the first 28 days after its release in 2021. Squid Game also made Lee Jung-jae the first Asian man to win the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series award at the Emmy Awards.

The creator also became the first Asian to win Outstanding Director for a Drama Series at the same event. The second season will be enlivened by Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and Gong Yoo. In addition, there are also a number of new stars, such as Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, and Park Gyu-young.

Park Sung-hoon, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun (TOP), Yang Dong-geun, Won Ji-an, and Lee Jin-uk. Squid Game season 2 will premiere on December 26, 2024, while season 3 will arrive in 2025 on Netflix.
