Milla Jovovich returns to the big screen with an action thriller titled Protector. Adapting a report from The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday November 7, 2024, the Protector filming process will begin in New Mexico next winter.

In this film, Milla Jovovich plays the character Nikki, a former war hero with special skills. Nikki feels that she should leave her past behind in order to raise her daughter, Chloe, in peace. One day, she wakes up in an abandoned factory and finds out that Chloe has been kidnapped.

Nikki must once again use all her fighting skills to navigate the criminal underworld to save her daughter and take revenge on the kidnappers, all while avoiding the police and military. Adrian Grünberg's Protector is set to be marketed to distributors at the American Film Market.

Martial artist and stuntman Ho-Sung Pak is attached as a producer and action coordinator. The film's script will be written by Bong-Seeb Mun, who will also produce alongside Kenneth Kim and Bang-Ok Joo for Aanaxion Studio, and Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier of Highland Film Group.

Milla Jovovich herself has become one of the most prolific female action stars in Hollywood history. Her first action role came in the 1997 sci-fi film The Fifth Element, a huge commercial success.

After that, she played the legendary character Joan of Arc in The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc , where she showed the action side of the French heroine. Her popularity in the genre skyrocketed when she played Alice, an amnesiac woman, in the 2004 Resident Evil film adaptation of the popular game.

Milla Jovovich reprised the character in five subsequent sequels, several of which were directed by her husband, Paul W.S. Anderson. She also appeared in Ultraviolet, The Three Musketeers, Monster Hunter, and the 2019 reboot of Hellboy.

The December 1975-born actress still has a number of action film projects to look forward to in the future. Among them are In the Lost Lands,  adapted from a short story by George RR Martin, and Midnight, in which she will act alongside Alexandra Shipp and Rosario Dawson.
