Director Yang Woo Seok discussed casting for the film, saying, “To play the character of Ham Moon Seok, who is often referred to as the ‘perfect child,’ we needed an actor who was not only handsome, intelligent, tall, and academically accomplished, but also excelled in many other areas.

The first actor who came to mind was Lee Seung Gi,” as quoted by Soompi on November 7, 2024. Lee Seung Gi added, “When I found out that Kim Yun Seok, an actor I’ve always respected, would be joining the film, it didn’t take me long to think about it.

With such a great script, I felt like there was no reason to hesitate to shave my head.”She committed to the role and shaved her hair as soon as she found out that Kim Yun Seok would be her co-star. The film About Family is her comeback after getting married and marks her acting project in 2024.

Previously, she had been on hiatus for three years after starring in the Korean drama Mouse (2021), then Vagabond (2019) and many others. Meanwhile, the Korean film About Family will be showing in theaters on December 11, 2024.
