A natural disaster rocked Myanmar with a massive 7.7 magnitude earthquake, the tremors of which were felt as far away as Thailand and China. Amidst this heartbreaking situation, BLACKPINK's Lisa also expressed her condolences via Instagram Stories.

"Sending prayers to everyone affected by the earthquake. Please stay safe," Lisa wrote, complete with a Thai flag emoji as a sign of solidarity. As a global star from Thailand, Lisa did not forget to remind her fans to remain careful. However, it is not yet known for sure whether Lisa is currently in her hometown or abroad.

Lisa's post came at the same time that the production team of The White Lotus also expressed their sympathy for the earthquake victims. The HBO series, which is currently filming its third season in Bangkok, wrote an empathetic statement on their social media.

"The White Lotus team and all of us at Max have deep love for the people of Myanmar and Thailand today," they wrote. They also hope that everyone affected can get the help they need during these difficult times.

The earthquake that rocked Myanmar on Friday March 28, 2025 was recorded as the largest earthquake since 1912. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Sagaing, near Mandalay, at a depth of only 10 km, so the impact was felt widely.

The tremors were felt as far away as Bangkok, Thailand, and Yunnan, China. Myanmar immediately declared a state of emergency in several areas, including Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Eastern Shan, and Magway.

In fact, the Myanmar military junta also announced a state of emergency in Naypyidaw, the country's capital which is the center of government. Thailand also implemented a state of emergency in Bangkok to anticipate further impacts.

As of Saturday March 29, 2025 afternoon, the death toll from the Myanmar earthquake reached 1,002 people. However, the USGS estimates that this number could jump to 10 thousand victims given the massive scale of the destruction.
