Seungri has been leaked to have officially left South Korea to start a new business in China. The former BIGBANG member was said to have held a meeting in Cheongdam-dong with industry figures and business partners in late February 2025.

Now, Seungri has been confirmed to have flown to China last month. A source close to the 1990-born man leaked that Seungri went to China to explore new business opportunities. An insider shared with media outlet MyDaily on April 2, 2025, "Seungri was in Korea until recently, but last month he flew to China.

He has not revealed his specific plans, but he is still very interested in the entertainment industry and is exploring various new ventures." The source said that Seungri has no plans to return to his hometown. "Currently, he has no plans to return to Korea for activities.

Given the public spotlight and sharp opinions, he has no intention of returning to his previous career," they said. "However, he (Seungri) is exploring the entertainment industry in China, a place he thinks he can grow in, and he will likely use his connections to make it happen," the source added.

Despite still being linked to the Burning Sun scandal in Korea, which continues to affect his reputation, Seungri is said to still be in touch with several people he once worked with, including the third-generation heir to a major Korean company.

Another source close to Seungri explained, "It's true that he has distanced himself from the BIGBANG members, but he is still on good terms with people from his past. He has had casual discussions about business ideas with them, and he is currently in China to explore new opportunities."

Seungri's controversial past still haunts his career.  He was at the center of the Burning Sun scandal in 2019, which led to his departure from BIGBANG. Seungri eventually faced nine charges, including gambling, prostitution, filming crimes, and embezzlement.

After being sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison, he was released around February 2023. However, his behavior after his release continued to draw criticism. Last year, Seungri made headlines when he partied and promised to bring G-Dragon to Cambodia and perform BIGBANG songs.

His partying lifestyle with no visible signs of remorse sparked further backlash. Seungri also caused a stir in China when he appeared at a nightclub in Hangzhou on March 18, 2025. Chinese media reported, "He came with bodyguards, lowered his head and remained silent. However, many fans shouted and watched him."
