Red Velvet's Wendy has officially joined a new agency called ASND. This news was officially announced on April 25, 2025 and was immediately greeted with enthusiasm by fans. After 11 years with SM Entertainment, Wendy has decided to close the old chapter and open a new page in her journey in the South Korean entertainment industry.

As reported by Soompi on Friday April 25, 2025, ASND warmly welcomed Wendy by uploading a short video and a new profile photo showing her persona. In their official statement, ASND stated, " We are happy to be able to work with an artist who has proven her abilities in various fields.

We will actively support Wendy's activities with Red Velvet, and do our best to make Wendy shine even brighter under ASND. " Wendy also immediately launched an official social media account on platform X (formerly Twitter), namely @WENDY_offcl, where she shared some of her new photos to greet fans.

Previously, Wendy and her bandmate, Yeri, ended their exclusive contracts with SM Entertainment in early April 2025. Despite parting ways as an agency, SM Entertainment confirmed that both Wendy and Yeri will continue to participate in Red Velvet's group activities.

Currently, Yeri is also in talks to join Blitzway Studios, an agency that houses many famous actors. Reporting from Allkpop on the same Friday, Wendy became the latest artist to join ASND, the agency that also houses five members of the girl group fromis_9, namely Song Hayoung, Park Jiwon, Lee Chaeyoung, Lee Nagyung, and Baek Jiheon.

Wendy's joining is a strong signal that ASND is ready to become a new player to be reckoned with in the Korean entertainment world, even though this label is relatively new. Meanwhile, according to a report from Hype , ASND itself was only founded in January 2025.

When they started teasing fans by uploading photos of blue dragon fruit and blueberries—Wendy's signature colors when she was in Red Velvet—many fans immediately guessed that the artist in question was her.

The speculation was finally answered when ASND officially confirmed that Wendy had joined as an exclusive artist. Many fans admitted to being surprised by Wendy's decision to join a new label rather than a big, established company. However, many also saw this move as a fresh opportunity for Wendy to develop further as a soloist.

During her time at SM Entertainment, Wendy was said to have not received enough solo promotion opportunities, so her departure was considered a timely decision. In a quote reported by Koreaboo , Wendy said, " I have completed my exclusive contract with SM, who has been with me for a long time and shaped me into who I am today.

Now I am preparing for a new challenge in a new environment. " Thus, Wendy officially left SM after 11 years of working with them. Although ASND is a young label, fans hope that Wendy will find a wider space to show her talents and potential.

Netizens' reactions have varied, from warm support to curiosity about who is really behind the agency. With her strong vocal talent and long experience in the industry, Wendy is expected to present more personal and explorative works in this new phase. Let's look forward to Wendy's next journey with ASND!
