The trial of the extortion case experienced by the late South Korean actor Lee Sun Kyun was held at the Criminal Appeals Division 3 of the Incheon District Court on Wednesday May 21, 2025.
The trial, led by Judge Choi Seong Bae, tried A, a manager at an adult entertainment venue, and B, a former actor, who were both charged with blackmailing Lee Sun Kyun.
Quoted from Allkpop, the prosecutor in the trial asked for a 7-year prison sentence for A, the same sentence as they asked for in the first trial.
Meanwhile, for B, the prosecutor did not provide a sentencing recommendation because their legal advisor was not present at the trial. A was charged with extorting 300 million KRW from the late Lee Sun Kyun in September 2023.
In addition to this case, A was also charged with drug-related offenses, including the use of methamphetamine and ketamine between December 2022 and August 2023.
On the charges, A was sentenced to one year in prison in October last year. A reportedly has six previous drug-related convictions.
Meanwhile, B allegedly disguised himself as a hacker to blackmail A and then blackmailed Lee Sun Kyun directly in October 2023, receiving 50 million KRW in the process.
