South Koran actor Ha Jung Woo is facing backlash after leaving a controversial comment on Instagram that many have called inappropriate and sexually suggestive.  Recently, a screenshot began circulating online showing a reply the actor left on his own post.

According to the capture, a fan had commented asking Ha Jung Woo to give them a nickname. In response, the actor wrote, “Choieumjae (meaning aphrodisiac).” This word in Korean refers broadly to any substance or agent that increases sexual desire—making it a jarring choice in a lighthearted fan interaction.

One user simply replied, “Huh?”, echoing what many netizens have since expressed: confusion, discomfort, and disapproval. Online reactions were swift, with many calling the word “sexually inappropriate” and saying Ha Jung Woo had “crossed a line.”

Others labeled the comment as borderline sexual harassment, especially given the public nature of the exchange. Ha Jung Woo has since deleted the comment, but screenshots of the interaction continue to spread across social media, fueling continued criticism.

In response, Ha Jung Woo has issued an apology. On July 21, 2025, his agency, Walk House Company, released a statement saying, “We sincerely apologize to the individual who may have been upset by our artist’s social media activity.

Ha Jung Woo personally reached out to the fan to apologize and speak with them directly.” The agency added, “We promise to be more thoughtful and careful in our communication with fans moving forward.”
