Song Young Gyu has been found dead inside his vehicle, police have confirmed. An investigation is currently underway. An official from the Yongin Dongbu Police Station told Hankyung.com that they received a report on the morning of August 4, 2025 after the actor’s body was discovered.
He was found inside his car in Yongin City. A woman discovered him and immediately alerted the authorities, according to reports. The news comes shortly after it was revealed late last month that Song was under investigation for drunk driving.
His case had been transferred to the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office for review. Police confirmed that at the time of the incident, Song’s blood alcohol concentration was over 0.08%, a level that typically results in a driver’s license revocation.
The investigation found that he had driven his own car home after drinking with acquaintances. Song Young Gyu was a veteran actor who was active until his death. He was recently appearing as Pastor Yoon Se Hoon in the ENA drama The Defects and as a rugby coach in the SBS drama Try: We Become Miracles.
