South Korean actor Song Young Kyu died on Monday, August 4, 2025, after being found dead in his car in front of his residence. The 55 years old actor died while being charged with drunk driving.
On the same day, a colleague of Song Young Kyu shared that the actor was experiencing personal issues that caused his mental state to be disturbed. "My friend was extremely stressed, which contributed to the DUI incident.
It seems like his symptoms recurred as his projects dwindled, including personal issues," the colleague told OSEN. "It seems he's drinking to relieve the pain of mounting stress.
Those around him are telling him not to, but it's sad," he continued. Song Young Kyu is reportedly busy acting in dramas and films, while his wife manages a cafe business. Their financial situation is also declining.
"I last saw Song Young Kyu last year. He was living separately from his family (including his wife and child). He rented a place in Bundang and lived alone while continuing his acting career," said his friend.
"In that situation, the DUI incident happened, so I think about his future. He's getting more and more stressed," he continued. Until now, the police are still investigating the cause of the actor's death.
