Recently, ZEROBASEONE's Ricky's name has been widely discussed by netizens, especially via the platform X (formerly Twitter). This came after the ZEROBASEONE member loudly opposed hate speech from haters.

Ricky successfully debuted in ZEROBASEONE after participating in the Mnet  survival show " Boys Planet " and ranked 4th. Since his time on  "Boys Planet," the 21-year-old has stolen attention thanks to the phrase "Young and rich, tall and handsome."

Instead of criticism, many people are hurling hate at the man, whose real name is Shen Quanrui. In an interview with Teen Vogue on Thursday (September 4, 2025), the Chinese K-Pop star bravely responded to criticism of his bold makeup and hairstyle choices.

Ricky also advocated for self-love and honesty in the highly competitive K-Pop industry. He then added, "My mother introduced me to the world of makeup. He's incredibly beautiful. He also knows all the ins and outs of the makeup world." So it's no surprise that Ricky and makeup are inseparable.

Even since Boys Planet , Ricky has been known for his always well-groomed appearance and never looking lacking anything. While other Boys Planet contestants tried to go for minimal makeup, Ricky dared to stand out by going the other way. And this has earned him global fan acceptance.

After debuting with ZEROBASEONE on July 10, 2023, Ricky officially became a K-Pop idol and captured the public's attention thanks to his aesthetic. Ricky's popularity also skyrocketed thanks to his distinctive makeup style, featuring a touch of smoky  eye makeup .

However, Ricky realized that his soaring popularity was being overshadowed by comments from people who deemed his makeup style "too overdone." Nevertheless, Ricky emphasized that these negative comments didn't deter him. "No one is perfect in this world.

And if there are good comments, there will definitely be bad ones," said the man born on May 20, 2004. Ricky accepted all the comments with an open heart and then said, “There will be more people who love you than who hate you.” "I don't care if they (haters) don't like my makeup.

I just take it as a joke," Ricky replied when asked about his response to people who criticize his appearance and hairstyle. Social media was immediately abuzz with support, celebrating Ricky's revolutionary style and his maturity in dealing with criticism.
