South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun is reportedly set to appear at his first trial in November 2025. The hearing was held in response to a lawsuit filed by a cosmetics brand after the termination of their employment contract, which is worth 500 million KRW (about 350,000 US dollars).
The Seoul Central District Court's 22nd Civil Division will hold a preliminary hearing on November 21st for the lawsuit filed by cosmetics brand A against Kim Soo Hyun and his agency. The case comes seven months after the complaint was formally filed in April 2025.
Last March 2025, the cosmetics brand announced via social media that it had terminated its contract with Kim Soo Hyun due to his scandal with the late Kim Sae Ron. "We find it difficult to immediately take action regarding the termination of the contract without first hearing the statements of Kim Soo Hyun and his agency," the statement read.
"After reviewing the agency's position, we determined that there were serious reasons preventing the fulfillment of the advertising contract, and we have officially initiated the termination process through our legal representatives.
This decision reflects our commitment to upholding our brand values and the trust of our consumers," they continued. Kim Soo Hyun's contract with the cosmetics brand was supposed to expire last August 2025.
However, in March 2024, Kim Soo Hyun was involved in the scandal surrounding actress Kim Sae Ron's death. YouTube Garo Sero Research Institute released content alleging a relationship and other personal issues involving Kim Soo Hyun and the late actress.
Due to the controversy, Kim Soo Hyun's entertainment activities have been halted. He is reportedly facing lawsuits totaling approximately US$5.6 million from several companies, including Brand A.
Kim Soo Hyun's lawyer, Go Sang Rok, has spoken out and denied the allegations. On September 30, he publicly denied that Kim Soo Hyun had a relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor.
