The anonymous netizen who accused actor Lee Yi Kyung of sending obscene messages has apologized, admitting that the entire scandal “started as a joke” and involved AI-generated photos. In a social media post on October 22, 2025, the accuser, who claims to be a German fan, retracted her allegations. “
I never knew that posts which started as a joke would receive so much attention,” she wrote. In a bizarre explanation, she added, “I gradually started to believe it was real myself, although I wrote the text and used AI-generated photos.”
She apologized for spreading a “malicious rumor” and said she felt “guilty that something which began for fun seemed to become a reality.” The apology marks a strange end to a dramatic week. The accuser initially posted screenshots of explicit DMs she claimed were from the actor.
Lee’s agency immediately denied the claims as “complete fabrications” and stated that the same person had previously attempted to blackmail them. In response, the accuser doubled down, even posting a screen recording she claimed was proof, before finally posting today’s apology.
Now that the accuser has admitted the posts were fake, she is facing intense criticism online. Despite the confession, Lee Yi Kyung’s agency has stated that it is still moving forward with its planned legal action against the woman for spreading false information and malicious rumors.
