Jang Dong Ju, the star of the Korean drama " No Tail to Tell, " has announced his retirement from acting. Previously, he caused public concern by disappearing and posting an apology. The actor himself announced his retirement via his personal Instagram, Friday (May 15, 2026).

"After a long career as an actor, I have received so much love and support. Every moment of laughing and crying in front of the camera has been the most beautiful moment of my life," he wrote.

The 31-year-old actor expressed his gratitude to the directors, staff, and fellow actors he had worked with. Despite his shortcomings, he was grateful they believed in his acting abilities.

Not forgetting, Dong Ju also expressed his gratitude to fans who have supported his career so far. "Today is the last day, I intend to give up my life as an actor. Even though I leave this stage, I will never forget the sincerity you have given me throughout my life," he said.

It's unclear why Jang Dong Ju chose to retire, but it's suspected to be related to the recent controversies he's been embroiled in. In October 2025, he made the public worried after uploading a black photo with the caption, " I'm sorry " to his personal Instagram.

Concerns grew after his agency, Nexus E&M, stated they were unable to contact the actor. They revealed that he had contacted his parents the day before, informing them that he would be returning home.

"Jang Dong Ju is currently unreachable. We confirm that on October 30, 2025, he contacted his parents and said he would return home the next day (October 31, 2025)," the agency said at the time.

However, after asking his parents, Dong Ju apparently never came. Luckily, on the afternoon of October 31, 2025, the agency announced that they had found their artist in good condition.

Then, in January 2026, Jang Dong Ju returned to the spotlight after claiming to have been blackmailed by a hacker. He revealed he received a call from an unknown number, was asked to download the Telegram app, and ultimately had his phone hacked.

The incident caused him to lose billions of won and fall into debt. " I borrowed money at every cost. My family even sold our house for me. The debt I incurred in a hurry created more debt.

That's how I lost billions, leaving my family in misery and myself buried under a mountain of debt, " he confided on Instagram. Meanwhile, Jang Dong Ju began his acting career in 2012 with the play "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

He officially made his television debut in 2017 with the Korean drama "School 2017." Other dramas he has starred in include 'Criminal Minds' (2017), 'My Strange Hero' (2018), 'Class of Lies' (2019), 'Let Me Be Your Knight' (2021), and 'Trigger' (2025).

His role as Hyeon Woo Seok in the Korean drama ' No Tail to Tell ' marked his final work as an actor. He starred alongside Park Solomon and Kim Hye Yoon.
