Unpleasant news has come from the boy group TREASURE. One of its members, Junkyu, has decided to take a temporary hiatus from group activities due to health issues .
Soompi reported on Monday (June 29, 2026), the agency YG Entertainment stated in their official announcement that TREASURE member, Junkyu, decided to temporarily stop group activities to focus on recovering his health.
TREASURE just wrapped up promotions for their latest mini-album, New Wav, last week. However, during that time, member Junkyu continued to participate despite feeling unwell.
After discussing with Junkyu and the other TREASURE members, the company decided that the idol would take a break from the group's promotional activities so that he could focus on resting fully to recover his health.
Following the announcement, Junkyu was confirmed to be absent from the filming activities, both photo and video for their b-side track Danger, which will be held in the near future.
"TREASURE completed their official broadcast promotions for their mini album last week. Despite his poor health, Junkyu has continued to do his best for the sake of the team's activities.
Therefore, based on the personal opinions of the idol and those around him, Junkyu has decided to temporarily stop group activities and take some time to rest," YG Entertainment explained in an official statement.
The agency also asked for fans' understanding and support regarding this matter and promised to do their best to ensure Junkyu's speedy recovery and return to his fans.
Following the agency's official announcement, Junkyu personally penned a farewell letter to fans via a post on TREASURE's Weverse account.
In the post, the idol apologized to fans and poured out his heart, expressing his gratitude for the love he has received from TREASURE Makers (TREASURE's fans) since his and the group's debut in 2020.
To the point of wanting to continue performing at his best for his fans, he ignored the signs that his health was starting to decline.
Realizing this, the idol sincerely told his fans that he needed some time off so he could greet them in good health. "Over the years, I've received so much love from fans, and every moment felt like a miracle. I was truly happy.
However, as time went by and I continued to do my best in every performance, I finally realized something. That I was increasingly ignoring the signals my mind and body were giving me," Junkyu explained.
The idol added, "It's because I always want to show you my best and professional side, making you feel like I'm doing well. But, I finally realized that it's time for me to take a break and take care of myself."
Junkyu concluded his farewell letter to fans with an apology for worrying them. He also promised to return stronger and more authentic after his recovery. On the other hand, TREASURE just released their latest mini album titled New Wav on June 1, 2026.
The title song If I and several b-side tracks on the album went viral among fans. So TREASURE decided to put on an additional music show stage for the songs Zoom Zoom and Nally-Na as a thank you.
