TREASURE's Junkyu has announced some unfortunate news for fans. He will be going on hiatus due to health issues. Junkyu and YG Entertainment issued separate statements regarding the matter.
The agency explained that Junkyu currently needs more rest, especially since TREASURE recently wrapped up promotions for their new album, NEW WAV. In fact, during NEW WAV's promotions, the K-Pop idol, born on September 9, 2000, had been feeling unwell.
However, he was determined to complete the program despite his poor health. "After discussing with Junkyu, it has been decided that he will temporarily halt activities to prioritize rest and recovery," the management said in their official statement earlier this week.
Junkyu reached out to fans via Weverse to update them on the situation. He posted a handwritten letter thanking them for their support over the past six years. He also openly explained the history of his health condition.
He hopes to recover quickly and return to greet fans in TREASURE's next activities. This is Junkyu's complete letter to TREASURE MAKER: "Hello, TREASURE MAKER! This is Junkyu.
I spent a long time thinking about how to start this letter, but I decided to write it in the hope that my sincere feelings will reach you. It's been six years since I debuted with TREASURE in 2020 and started this journey with TREASURE MAKER.
Over the years, I've received so much love from all of you, and every moment feels like a miracle. I'm truly happy. However, as I kept going and giving it my all, I think there came a point where I gradually stopped paying attention to the signals my mind and body were sending me.
Because I always wanted to show the best and most professional side of myself, I kept trying to act like I was fine. But eventually, I realized it was time for me to take a step back and take care of myself.
After much discussion with management, I decided to temporarily suspend my activities and take some time to rest. I am deeply sorry for causing TREASURE MAKER, who has always been my greatest source of strength, worry by delivering this sudden news.
However, I believe this break is exactly what I need to return as a healthier, stronger version of myself. I will use this time to rest well, organize my thoughts, and return to my true self. Thank you always, and I love you, TREASURE MAKER."
