Seo Kang Jun recently shared his thoughts on his latest drama, "A Love Other Than Yours." The drama tells the story of a couple who have been together for ten years and experience unexpected emotional changes in their previously close relationship.
In the drama, Seo Kang Jun plays Namgoong Ho, a man who has spent ten years thinking only about one person, Lee Mi Do (Ahn Eun Jin), while dreaming of a happy future together. When first introduced to the project, Seo Kang Jun revealed, "The first thing that caught my attention was Namgoong Ho's character."
He explained that the character is "delicate and kind, but has a calmness that comes from his strong inner strength. He compromises with reality but never crosses a certain line. Rather than feeling like a carefully designed character, he feels like someone who might actually be alive somewhere."
Seo Kang Jun explained the reason behind his choice to be involved in this project, "A series usually allows you to experience fantasy or fill in the gaps, but 'A Love Other Than Yours' connects with reality. I became even more involved because this is our story, depicting life and growth through the universal theme of love."
The keyword for the kind of love Namgoong Ho pursues is “sacrifice.” Seo Kang Jun describes this character as “someone who works, saves, and endures certain absurdities of reality for the sake of his future with Lee Mi Do. He is someone who is willing to make sacrifices for his partner.”
In portraying Namgoong Ho's emotions, Seo Kang Jun conveyed them simply. "I tried not to make my expressions too big. I wanted Namgoong Ho's inner thoughts and worries to be conveyed through his eyes rather than his words, and I kept thinking about emotions and life that weren't written in the script," he said.
